Thanks to our incredible panellists, Amelia Ng, Yvonne Gyebi, Ayesha Abbas, Aditya Mandloi, Chinali P. and Priya Raghunath + everyone who tuned in to watch our panel discussion, #IWD2022: #Investing in #FemaleEntrepreneurs.
As our panellists echoed, spreading awareness about gender inequality is the first step to finding a solution. So if you don’t have time to watch the full session, here’s a quick wrap-up summarizing some of the painful truths about the biases that women face, the opportunity to transform global markets if we invest more in women and some recommendations to drive further inclusion for all.
💸 Women entrepreneurs come up against a host of challenges, from limited access to financing – (Women-led businesses received just 2.3% of VC funding in 2020) – to less noticeable ones such as having to adapt to office thermal conditions designed with men in mind.
⚡The opportunity is real – if women and men participated equally as entrepreneurs, global GDP could rise by approximately 3% to 6%, boosting the global economy by $2.5 trillion to $5 trillion.
💪 We can help further the agenda by calling out cultural and societal expectations that keep women behind, putting more women in leadership positions to increase access and opportunities for others, building greater networks and access to mentorship to help women build skills, and establishing government regulations and policies that empower women entrepreneurs such as shared parental leave.
